Sorry didn’t spot it was Vista. But I’m actually on my Vista machine (yuck!) as I write this! Pretty much the same, except that in Vista’s Magnifier Settings Dialog (which may be in the Task Bar) you select Exit from the File menu. But I found it all again in Start: Help and Support. George. Once he's done that, and found his way to "Magnifier Settings", he'll reach a dialog with 6 check boxes. The last one is "Show magnifier" - tell him to uncheck it.
