On looking at the link to the 3g version it seems to me that the 3g version is a Kindle in and of itself, not merely a keyboard although I think that Amazon's description of the product gives rise to confusion.

Hi
Are we saying that if you buy the 3G kindle keyboard this totally replaces
the kindle or do you use it in conjunction with your kindle. If it is the
latter then that is very expensive.

Hi all,

I raised a query with Amazon regarding the accessibility of the latest Kindle and they pointed me to a link to their 3g keyboard. On looking at the link I see the product supports text to speech and voiceover menus which is, of course great, however the item costs considerably more (£149) than the inaccessible Kindle which retails at £89. For the accessible Kindle please see http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002LVUWFE I haven't tried the 3g keyboard as the device I received in December 2010 (cost £109) is still working well.

Regards,

Kevin

Kevin,

google is your friend for this.

Kindle app for iPhone.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/feature.html?ie=UTF8&docId=1000423903&tag=googhydr-21&hvadid=13710755034&ref=pd_sl_5wz2gpka82_b

If that link is broken, please try this one.

Incidentally, there's a Kindle app for Android devices too.

If that link doesn't work, try this:-

Sounds like the cheaper Kindles don't have text-to-speech, but obviously it
makes sense to check before you buy one.

Vince.

I am confused. The Kindle I received back in December 2010 has a keyboard and a text to speech facility. Are people saying that the new Kindles (I.E. all devices) do not have a text to speech facility? How do you read a Kindle book on an I-Phone? I don't have an I-phone so would be interested to know whether the device supports Kindle books.

Many thanks,

Kevin

Hi. I am glad I have an Iphone as i can read a book on a device in which I carry with me. amazon is well aware of blind people who are wanting their products to be accessible. Despite this! they have no intention of making their future products accessible to the VI community.

hi all, don't amazon have a right to support all people with disabilities with a kindle? surely their are laws meaning everyone should have the right to read their books on a kindle, be that with an iphone app or the new touch product? disgusting really how we are the blind consumer are yet again left behind, can't nothing be done about this?
