Hi , Yes I turned off talks before installing. The really puzzling thing
is that the installation appears to be successful. I have some sight and I
can see that the new version has been installed, in fact I can hear a
hissing sound when I switch the talks on again. In fact the only thing
that is missing is the fact that it does not speak.

Before installing the latest version did you activate the "talks off" option in the phone's menu? That's one of the recommended installation instructions.
