how do you turn off the keypad tones? Also I understand you can lower the resolution of the screen to stop the battery draining away so quickly? How do you do that? Any help appreciated.

Hi Brian,

Interesting. This must be a firmware issue, as I don't have a problem with
the 6680 like that at all. But the first thing to try is to turn off keypad
tones in the profiles you are using. If that solves the problem, job done,
as you don't need them. If it doesn't, let me know.

Damon, are you sure that Talks has died? When you turn on the phone, do you
get any error messages visually? Ask someone with peepers to check this,
and let me know if you do. As for your serial number, if you give me your
IMEI number, I can retrieve it for you, but you shouldn't need to enter that
again, unless you reset the phone.

All the best

Damon, I can't offer you a solution except to say that I often get the same
problem. I absolutely hate the 6680 at the moment. Like you, when I dial a
phone number, the phone will just "crash" and I have to remove the battery
and put it back in again.

However my daughter has a 6680 and has had absolutely no problems with it
because Talks is not installed, so it must be something to do with the
relationship between Talks and the 6680.

What with that and the fact that I absolutely cannot get my pac mate to send
and receive e-mail using the vodafone network, I am having a lot of mobile
phone difficulties right now. I wish I could go back to a 6630 on the
Orange network (smile), because everything was perfect.

If anyone has a resolution to the 6680 crashing, I would love to read it.

I've had a lot of hassle with my Nokia 6680 with Talks. Almost every other

phone call I make it'll crash and I need to take the battery out to reboot

the phone. Quite apart from very bad battery usage issues.

Anyway, Talks finally gave out a couple of days ago. Rather fantastically
the phone now works well without regularly crashing. However, I now can't
access SMS text or my phone book.

What should I be thinking about doing now? Do I attempt some kind of
uninstall first before reinstalling? What's the most accessible way
forward for me? And will I need the USER ID authorisation to tap into it
again because I'm not sure I've got it.

I've had nothing but hassle with the 6680. I can't wait to change it later

this year.

Thanks!

...Damon
