That sounds like an excellent idea. You should be taking your idea to the manufacturers.

Hi Terry,

What it needs is for manufactures to have to build in to all there
products accessibility switches which allows the user to hear when
operated, the function/setting of buttons and dials.

For instance, washing machines these days have loads of buttons and
typically a dial. I personally haven't a chance of telling what is
what, and have to leave it to my wife. If there were an accessibility
switch, with three positions for say, Off, Test and On, whereby in the
test position, all buttons an dials when operated, spoke there
function/setting without actually operating the machine, and in the On
position, spoke the function/setting while operating the machine.

This would negate the need for specialist equipment and it's subsequent
cost, plus, there wouldn't be the need to change appliances on loosing
one's sight.

Cheers

Well I guess its all about where yo ucome from on these things.
Personally I've always been of the view that if I want something I have
to be able to afford it especially if it relates to my personal life,
which I guess is the same as so many other people with all kinds of
other "disadvantages".
Look I don't want to rev up a grant debate here all I'm saying is that
sometimes its easy to mump on the grant band wagon without seriously
taking a look at what we are actually asking for in the context of
reality!
Anyway don't want to clutter the list with this and sorry if my first
post was a touch controvercial.

No, but they can buy something they can use dead cheap and we need
adaptations or assistance with them, so why shouldn't we have a grant?

has anyone ever used or do they own, the cobolt talking microwave
oven
and grill combination product?
1. how usable is it?
2. why does one need to weigh out products is this if cooking meats
like
beef etc?
3. what pre-programmed convenience and oven foods are programmed into

the

microwave? is it things like bacon for the grill, soups, burgers,
pastas
pizza etc?
some product are obvious however such as soups as they are generally
done

in the microwave

i wonder if it is possible to attain a grant for these products or is
it
far simpler to buy one out of ones' own expenditure?
I live with parents at present and they love to cook for me lol but I
want since i have learned cooking skills, to work on my own and while
i
could use a conventional oven ours is all dials with no markings and
it
is digital i believe

regards will
