Hi Ron.

Yep, so long as you have good wireless coverage, you can use your Airport Express base station virtually anywhere. If you have an IPhone or IPod Touch, you can even remotely control your digital audio sender, browse your music etc with the Apple remote ap.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Ibrahim, Will the Apple system you talk about work from my computer upstairs if I have it in the lounge downstairs? I have a wireless network and use a
Cherry Marlin wireless keyboard downstairs with A K G RF headphones

Cheers

Ron

Hi.

I wouldn't touch those touch controlled systems with a barge pole. They are
almost always totally inaccessible, and you playing and organizing your
music from your computer defeats the whole purpose of having one in the
first place. If you want to stream music from your computer, get yourself a
high quality audio sender and providing there isn't too distant a space
between computer and HiFi, you should be able to enjoy your tunes on your
music system. Apple produce an excellent music sender, its called the
Airport Express but requires you to use ITunes. If you don't mind that
however, its a very good option and costs under £100. Furthermore, it uses
the wireless network connection in your home to stream audio so that is a
definat plus.
As for me, if I want to listen to music on my stereo, I simply dock my
IPhone with my Sony mini HiFi and la di da, I have internet radio, all my
tunes in my ITunes library to stream and best of all, its all 100%
accessible.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hello folks, if I can throw my two pennyworth in here? I have a Bose Wave system which has DAB radio FM and MW plus a CD player. I went into a shop
thinking of improving this by adding more Bose products and was told that
the
Sonos 5 music system was far superior. One drawback with this the
controller
has a touch screen like the Apple products. The sound was terrific and
the
music came from the computer like you are saying Clive. I feel sure it
can be
controlled by the Ipod touch but I am not sure. I think there is an app
for the
Sonos as well and the company say it can be controlled from the PC using
their
software. Has anyone tried or listened to the Sonos 5?

Cheers

Ron

Increasingly, I am using my computer to play my music collection, having
ripped the lot onto an external hard drive. Tried IPod, but hated
ITunes, particularly since it did strange and terrible things with my
collection. I'd already loaded most of it onto the PC before throwing
ITunes at it, and I think this may have had something to do with the
nightmares I experienced. It may be easier if you're starting from
scratch with your uploading, putting ITunes up before you store on your
PC.

Without ITunes, I do find music a real cinch to play on the computer,
and I've got a massive collection on there.

Best,
Clive

Hi Dave thanks for your reply.

If the system I wanted was for portable use then your suggestion would
be perfect, but all I'm after is something similar to what I have but
with the two tape decks removed and replaced with a multi CD player.
This would be for home use, but I really want it accessible as I'd like
both my wife and I to use it and my wife is totally blind and I have
limited sight, and your idea of an IPod would mean we had to have one
each wouldn't' it?
