Yes, this is correct but not for the sound receivers for the blind, but if you have a digital box or computer with TV card or anything like video recorder then yes you do need to buy the licence. Christine. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Logue" <plsd@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I believe, even if you don't receive a picture, but you do receive an audiotelevision signal, you are still obliged by law to purchase a television license. RNIB used to sell a TV Tuner for blind people. Basically this was a small unit, similar in size to a portable radio, that broadcast TV programmes like a radio - using audio, no picture. A couple of people that I work with are looking at buying a TV and thenbuying a freeview box to go with it so that they can get audio description. They haven't the money to by an LCD TV (especially the Sony Bravia), and, asthey are blind and don't need to see the screen, I thought that a TV Tuner would be more suitable. Also, the TV Tuners meant that you didn't need a license to use them saving more money!Does anyone know of a TV Tuner on the market? If not, has anyone any ideason a good solution to a simple problem? ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq ** To leave the list, click on the immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe] ** If this link doesn't work then send a message to: ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx ** and in the Subject line type ** unsubscribe ** For other list commands such as vacation mode, click on the ** immediately-following link:- ** [mailto:access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx?subject=faq] ** or send a message, to ** access-uk-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the Subject:- faq
