Carol,
Chromecast is not a speaker. It is a device about the size of a 50P piece.
It has two sockets, one Micro USB and the other a 3.5mm headphone jack.
You can use it with headphones, or plug it into any stereo hifi or speakers
that take 3.5mm jacks.
What makes it good, is you connect it to your wifi with the Chromecast app,
which is accessible on both Android and iOS, then you can literally cast
most material to it from your phone. Once it is casting, you can even
switch your phone off, as the Chromecast takes care of the download.
There are two products, chromecast video and Chromecast audio. Audio would
be of interest to most on here, I have both. Both are extremely accessible.

Do they have a range of speakers or just a set of the same placed around the

well sorry to say it is to do with access as you need to use an app on
the phone to be able to use and set up the device. you also have to
connect these speakers through wireles as well.
