While I hve nothing to do with RNIB, I know this always comes up and the answer or response given is that if people wish to have something in their local area they should contact RNIB and it can be taken from there.

Why are these events just held in London only.
There are a few blind people living outside London as well!!

Hello All,

We are running the Solutions to Everyday living event at Judd Street on the 7
of August 2015 from 10 am to 3 pm. In the lower ground floor. This is an event
for anyone who has a visual impairment and need help with accessing printed
material, computers or mobile phones. The event will offer:

* First hand help from experts in Access Technology

* Demonstrations/Exhibition of the latest Video magnifiers, Reading
scanners, Note-takers, keyboards, Braille displays,

* Accessing Smart phones and tablets

* Advice on purchasing and on accessibility features

No registration is needed, and all are welcome!

There are 13 Exhibitors demonstrating the latest Access Technology for
reading, accessing computers and communication.


Exciting Workshop include:

Apple Accessibility - looking at general apple accessibility as well as how
the Apple Watch, Apple Pay and much more work for people with a visual
impairment.


Android Accessibility - looking at how Android devices could made more
accessible for people with a visual impairment.


Online Today Project - A Big Lottery Fund project being led by the RNIB to
support people with sensory loss to gain the basic skills and confidence to
support them in getting online. Running up until December 2017 we are aiming
to provide 125,000 people with face to face support offering advice and
demonstrations of various devices, such as tablets, smart phones and
E-readers. It is aimed for People with sensory loss who have little or no
experience of being online, whose skills need updating or who have recently
acquired sensory loss and need to learn new ways of getting online.


RNIB Overdrive - A digital download service for RNIB Talking Books, which lets
you download books from our extensive library to your computer, Smartphone or
tablet. Choose from more than 19,000 titles, and borrow up to six at a time.
We also offer a selection of the most popular magazines from our Newsagent
service, which you can access with the same subscription.
