Hi Damon. So was I, I was signed up to it for some time but got bored with the updates as it only seemed to concentrate on audio described and subtitled programming on sky channels. I now use the mydigiguide news letter which is also free to sign up to and which provides a much broader spectrum of programming from the big and not so big channels on our boxes. All the best, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: "Damon Rose" <damon.rose@xxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, October 04, 2010 12:02 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: sky talker very latest gospel truthBetter than the magazine though, I seem to be on some kind of weekly highlights email list. More timely, more accessible. Email the accessibility team, I'm sure that's how I got on there though I didn't ask for it. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ibrahim Gucukoglu Sent: 04 October 2010 11:56 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: sky talker very latest gospel truth Hi Simon. Clearly you are disapproving, this isn't for you and clearly you feel that it is inadequate. I feel the same way, but sometimes we have to shrug our shoulders and accept that some accessibility is better than no accessibility. This product was probably designed to cater for the needs of many people, not just the totally blind. Market forces will decide whether this is a success or failure, but one thing I am certain of is that if we scoff and criticize without giving constructive feedback, they might just shelve any further developments on this whole concept and leave us exactly where we are now. I've been a sky digital customer since the service launched and I can tell you that things are a lot better in terms of accessibility than they ever were when I joined, for instance no accessible customer service, no audio description and no accessible TV guide or accessible sky information portal and certainly no audio magazine. Sometimes we just have to accept that developing products that cater for the needs of many is the motivation behind the biggest companies as they've more to gain by that than by catering for the needs of a handful. I could go on in this vein but I've better things to do. All the best, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: william lomas<mailto:lomaswilliam@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, October 04, 2010 7:44 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: sky talker very latest gospel truth seventy quid to know if i have turned my tv on? do they think we idiots? I've got a mate at Sky who tells me that the new Sky Talker doesn't read the EPG, it won't let you record, it actually can't tell you what channel you're on but it does tell you if your television is on or off. But not if you've got HD. ...Damon http://www.bbc.co.uk/This e-mail (and any attachments) is confidential and may contain personal views which are not the views of the BBC unless specifically stated. If you have received it in error, please delete it from your system.Do not use, copy or disclose the information in any way nor act in reliance on it and notify the sender immediately. Please note that the BBC monitors e-mails sent or received.
