Hi all

Thanks for your help on this one.

I think the best option might be a new uncomplicated mobile phone with
speech. The only one I know of is the alto 2, which appears to be easy to
use and has fairly large push buttons, which would be better than a touch
screen in this case.

All he needs it for is making and receiving calls and texting.

Does anyone have experience of using this phone? I know it has the Daniel
and Serena voices which would be okay.

Any comments would be welcome.

David

Hi David,

You can't really. You would need sighted help to get into the Talks program
and enable it. If it was just muted, it would come back on when you powered
off and on the phone. But it sounds like they've set speech to none, or the
synthesiser has become corrupted. Could mean a reinstall of Talks.

All the best

Steve

Subject: [access-uk] silent mobile phone

Hi all

A friend of mine who is not at all technically minded, has a Nokia mobile
phone which hass stopped speaking.

Talx is installed on the phone.

I believe the phone is the E65, but am not even certain of that. I do not
have anyone to look at the screen, but assume that either talx is turned off
or muted in some way. Could anyone give me suggestions as to key
combinations I could try in order to regain speech.

Thanks very much.

David
