Well now days the I-Phones have serie, (or however it is spelled) to which people can speak text, and requests. Making keyboards obsolete I suspect. After all, why should future blind folk pride themselves on their proficiency with the accomplishment of writing or spelling skills. When there is an on line amanuenses to do the writing for them? Dumbing down the general population further, I say. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Saqib" <saqibh23@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I'm afraid so Steve. Bluetooth keyboards are ok for using at home but there is no way you can use it while you are on the move. With my E5! I can do over 30 words per minute with prodictive text and auto correction turned on! With any up to date smart phone! You can't get anywhere near that I'm afraid. Keyboards are definitely needed as part of the hardware if people are going to use their phones productively on the go. I think the assistive tech world are missing out on a good opportunity to cash in on this demand. We don't need apps like Georgie! We just need phones that are productive to use all around with them running the latest version of Android.

Hi,

Gloom and doom? Depends on your outlook. I get on fine with on-screen
keyboards now, but there are Bluetooth keyboards as well.

All the best

Oh well. It's all gloom and doom for keyboard lovers then. Very bleak times
indeed! I'm afraid. I'm looking after my E5 as long as possible.

Hi Steve

Your description of the Alto did make me laugh. But I believe they are ok
for people who want to use a really simple
phone.

I would be interested to know if there are any more phones with speech
that are as uncomplicated to use.
