I would shut down rather than sleep. Even though sleep is low power, I wouldn't
leave a PC to that mode cos eventually everything does slow down.

Hi David.
I personally always use shutdown. The problem with using sleep is it puts
your computer in to hibernation, so it's like putting your television in to
stand by. if you turn the telly off from the mains when it's in stand by, it
may revert to channel 1 for example whereas leaving it on stand by would
revert to the channel you were watching when you turned it off. Your computer
saves where you were then turns off. When you turn on in the morning, it'll
start up quicker because it doesn't have to load everything again. I prefer
shutdown because you're starting with a clean slate in the morning. I turn
the computer when I get up and it's ready to go by the time I get back. with
solid state hard drives being the norm now adays, most computers only take
around 30 seconds to startup, so i'd certainly recommend an upgrade to a
solid state drive if you haven't already got one. It will dramatically speed
up startup times, please don't hesitate to drop me a note off list and we can
discuss further if you wish.
cheers,
Mo.

Hi
Not sure whether this has been discussed before. At the end of the day,
what is the best way to close down the computer. I always use shut down,
but it does take a few minutes to reboot in the morning. I have asked one
or two people and some use shut down, others use sleep and one rarely, if
ever shuts down at all. I imagine sleep is rather like stand by on a tv.
Any thoughts?
David
