HI Alistair,
As a quick pointer, I have experienced this issue myself. The good news is that
there is a workaround of sorts.
First, hit the Windows key button and type “Control Panel” – this brings up
the old style Windows 7 panel. Microsoft have kept it there because they are
still migrating the code from the old platform to the new, although essentially
you are still running Windows 10.
Once in there, go to “default programs”, then “Set your default programs”. Tab
once and arrow down, you will now be in the long list of programs.
Once you are on the program you want to be the default tab twice or three times
depending on whether you want to set all the programs defaults or just a
selection. Pressing spacebar should do the trick.
Once done, tab round until you get to OK. ☺
Cheers
Martin

Subject: [access-uk] setting defaults in windows 10
Hi folks just installed win 10, despite going to default progs, selecting tthe
desired programme, e.g. IE or outlook express I can’t get it to accept any of
my changes, any suggestions? I am using nvda!I did select the set as default
button and saved the changes and pressed ok but with no luck each time I enter
on the progrramme I have chosen as my default the pc says “not responding”! I
know this might not be the list for such discussion so is there a list for win
10 questions?
