  Hi Simon.

This isn't exactly expensive but I use this myself and I love these scanners.
I've just bought the latest in the range, its the Canon Lide200 USB powered
scanner. It has a twain driver for backward compatibility but can also work
with software that uses WIA, has an optical resolution of 2400 by 4800 pixels
and is really thin, so much so that you can stand it on its side for maximum
space saving and efficiency. It's USB powered so no mains and it has four
buttons for performing things like scan, copy, email and so on. This will set
you back around 54 pounds from play.com and was the cheapest I could find at
the time. I don't know why your so keen to spend so much money, considering
text scanning resolutions are rarely above 1200 by 1200 pixels. In fact, I
think that's Omnipage's maximum scan resolution anyway and that's a
professional edition.

  All the best, Ibrahim

    hello list,
I am considering a new scanner, and am looking for something really top of
the range, with the highest resolution possible, but can't find an easy way to
get at that info, with out going through all the details of god only knows how
many scanners, to find what I am looking for.
it should work under XP, be USB, and able to work with a scanning program,
such as k1000. price is no object.
so please does anyone know of any sites, where I could easily find that
info, such as being able to filter out all the scanners with lower resolutions,
leaving only the higher resolution ones, or have any scanner recommendations?
