I think that is the core of the problem - despite blind people often being at the forefront of using new information technologies, organisations like the RNIB always seem stuck 10-20 years in the past. You read it, then give it back without having to buy the book that you will likely never read again. If I were to buy these books, even for the Kindle, the cost would soon mount up. Plus, I'd be stuck with lots of books that I would likely not bother reading again. For me, the RNIB library is probably the best resource the RNIB has, and I'm very grateful for it. Audible has some 140 thousand titles, and Kindle has even more. You can either play books from your bookshelf on the computer using Netplex software, which I have never done, or order the CD of the book to be sent to you. The discs are the talking books. This means I have total control of what I order as you can have five books at any one time. I know I keep banging on about this service, but I think it is worth telling people about it as the fact that you can have the CDs sent to you is not widely publicised.
