Hi.
Has anyone read the petition? It is not so much about selling high tech
solutions and invading on others personal commercial thieftoms, but rather
making available products that rightly belong in the catalogues of RNIB, family
products such as board games, picture cards, adaptive aids so that people like
Phillipa who is a young mother with sighted children can engage with their
families. Parental activities with children form an important part of any
child's upbringing and there just aren't enough products in the catalogs of
suppliers that promote this kind of interaction. As phillipa states in her
petition, she has to purchase products from overseas which can be time
consuming not to mention expensive, especially when you consider the
implications of Brexit. I suspect that one of the biggest challenges for
suppliers of products here is the cost of importation and trying to make a
profit on a product which relies on volume sales; it's a strategy that most
suppliers I suspect just can't afford to take that kind of risk.
All the best, Ibrahim.

I'm not trying to be contentious, but do we know that they don't sell products
that consumers want? Actually I agree with Steve in that part of a significant
charity like the RNIB's role should be the promotion of the private sector who
rely on sales rather than trying to do everything when they also take donations.
|But maybe I'm wrong.

I'd rather they didn't to be honest, as a reseller and specialist in the
products we sell, I'd rather the RNIB signposted, and concentrated on services.
They end up selling so many products, that they can't possibly know about all
of them, whereas smaller businesses can specialise better in what they do.
All the best
