[access-uk] require help to download map deta for google maps for android

hi all.
i red on the internet that we can download map deta by doing the following.
1 oppen maps 2 go to options press on more and click on make available
offline then select location but this methord is inaccessable and it
only downloads map for a area of 10mils from whare u selected so is
there a way i can download map deta on pc and then coppy it to memmory
card? like how we used to do for nokia or can i download meps for
offline use for entire country? in 1 go and in a accessable way?
