[access-uk] reading pdf files

Hello all
sorry to bring up this old chestnut!
I have just downloaded a piece of hobby software which has a 242 page
.Pdf manual which I don't seem to be able to read with acrobat 5, jaws
5.0.621.
I am sure that I have read pdf files previously with this combination.
Any help welcomed?
