Hi james, thanks for your help, i have passed it on to my friend. at present, i am using an epson1660, with finereader six. i also have finereader nine, but i don't like it. six is simpler to use, so i tend to use that, although the o c r in nine is supposed to be better. incidentally, i used to have a reading edge, and for its day, it wasn't bad. best wishes, brian.
