When you buy a book from Audible.co.uk, you have to use the Audible Download
Manager to download it to your PC. You can then connect the Milestone and use
the Audible Download manager to transfer your book to the Milestone. The
Milestone is one of the supported devices for Audible, although it's listed
under Bones. You also have to activate the Milestone for playing Audible's
protected files - I can't give you any help there because I've never done it,
but I have talked to at least one Milestone user who has.

Hi Robert.

Audible books are protected by DRM, technically what you have done is to
break that protection which is a violation of their terms of service.
Audible books work in a wide range of players including those specialist
ones like the Book Sense, Victor Stream etc. I suggest going to
www.audible.com/devices to see what devices are compatible with the service
and investigate purchasing one to keep from further violations of their
terms and to use the service in the manor it was intended. By the way, did
you purchase from Audible.com or Audible.co.uk? If the former, I suggest
you sign up to Audible.co.uk as well to enjoy a wider selection of titles
produced by British publishers as well as local currency transactions.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Dear Ibrahim,

I was inspired by your post to buy an audible book from Audible.com.

I assume the format (.aa) is designed for playing on I-tunes on the computer
or something like the i-pod (which I don't have). I wanted it in mp3 to play
on the milestone.

The only way I found of doing this was to play it all the way through and
record it through Total Recorder which automatically records to mp3, taking
8.5 hours.

You don't happen to know if there is an easier way?

Best wishes

Robert

Hi Sandra.

Precisely LOLOL, now with Talking Books on CD and with Audible probably the
best site around for audio books, that just wouldn't happen. My only wish
is that Audible would get some more of these timeless classics we used to
enjoy reading on cassette from the publisher in a digital form, it's all to
do with the rights apparently having expired as the publisher can only make
a book available in Audio for a limited time as its part of the bidding
contract process.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Oh dear! I used to get books on cassette from my local library and I
remember getting one book, Snow Wolf by Glen Meade, which was a huge book,
about twenty hours or so. I read through it, thoroughly enjoying it, until
I got to the last tape. Guess what? It was broken! Those were the days!

Cheers,
Sandra.
