Hi Janet

Previously, I had too many Excell workbooks open to look at your issue.
I now see what you mean!
However, if you input Niger, then press the delete key, Niger is correctly
inputted.

Other work-arounds are:
Input Nigeria, then edit the entry by using the F2 key.
Also, putting Niger into a cell one removed, from the desired place, then
cut and paste it.

Hi countries and their capitals and I have tried the arrow key but when I go

back it is saying Nigeria.

Janet

Since way back, Excel will attempt to replicate a previous entry.  This is
what is happening with Niger and Nigeria.
The way to get round it is, when you have inputted the five characters of
Niger, rather than pressing "enter" press an arrow key in the direction to
where you want to make the next entry.

BTW:  are you including entities in your list, or purely countries?

Morning guys

I am compiling a list of countries and their capitals using excel 2016.  The
problem I have is that when I type in the country Niger's name excell keeps
changing it to Nigeria which I don't want.  One more thing is it wise or not
to turn automatic filter off, if it is how do you do it?

Thanks very much

Janet
