What I'd do now is a System Restore, if knowone else came up with a solution.  
If you are not sure of hwoe to achieve this, please get back to me and I'll try 
and assist.  But someone may jump in and give you the answer you are looking

  Hi Andy, I looked at that, but no joy.  It seems as if outlook express has 
messed up totally.  I even tried repairing jaws to see if I'd done something to 
the scripts, but I haven't.

  it's an intresting one this, however, I'm getting used to ms outlook now.

    Not had to do this for a while, but do you not go into Control Panel / 
internet options / Programs and click on reset internet options?
