i also had problems when inputting to iphone running ios 11. maybe i'd 
forgotten what i was supposed to do to get into it but i was playing around 
with the and just couldn't get the ppsword into a box. however, i hit on the 
idea of using the tab key and it worked. as i say, this may or may been a 
change, but i have only very recently gone back to using a display with my 
phone.

I had exactly the same problem but updating to 11.1 has sorted this out but I 
needed sighted assistance as I was unable to input my password.
It might be worth you using the rota to try out the various typing options, 
as this sorted me out.
