Hi Jeff,
First thing to check, are you using laptop keyboard layout on your laptop?
When Jaws is set to using this layout, the Caps lock key doubles as the Jaws
key. The easiest way to configure this is by running the Jaws start up
wizard, and on the third page choose laptop from the Use keyboard layout
combo box. To switch the caps lock on/off when this layout is active, you
double click the Caps lock key.
In fact, I find the laptop layout better all-round than the desktop layout
that I have always used it with both my laptop and desktop.
BTW, one can reassign any of the Jaws function keys using the Jaws keyboard
manager, but this is an unnecessary complication for what you want to do IMHO.
