Yes George, that's more or less what I had in mind. The only other alternative is to go lowtech and get out the old typwriter, (smile). I do see plenty of folk resorting to a do-it-yourself format which, of course, doesn't comply with regs. Not heard of anyone being challenged as yet, but the postal consession is one free service worth keeping. Unfortunately however, because they are thermal printers, they only print black. The Post Office regulations clearly state that AFB labels should have the words "Articles for the Blind", a postage stamp box with the words "Postage Free", plus a section where the return address can be printed. All this has to be in green ink. The word "CECOGRAMS" should be printed in blue and placed beneath the words "Articles for the Blind". The sender's and recipient's address can be in any clearly readable colour. Now I do stress that these are a summary of International AFB regulations, so please don't send me a barrage of, "We've done them on our laser printer for years" type messages. What we in fact do do ourselves, is to print up sheets of A4 labels, 8 to view, as described above, but minus the recipient's address. We then use the personal thermal printers to do a small label as required. It does mean using two labels, but saves us a lot of time. George. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ray's Home Sent: 28 August 2004 23:39 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: printing labels Katheryn. I'll admit freely that I cannot give you a definite answer to the question you pose. But two things come to mind. First, AFTB labels are much smaller and usually come in rolls and I think they are a bit less flexible than A4 A65 sheets of labels. Second, being smaller, maybe its more difficult to keep them straight as they go into the printer. So I would be afraid of them getting suck in the printer more easily. I do not know if I am right about this, but I suspect I could be. Another approach, which involves spending money I'm afraid, is to by one of the small USB thermal printers designed to print onto small rolls of labels. These in turn could be stuck onto an AFTB. Not saying you're wrong, but just wondered what the difference is so why one is safe and not the other.
