Hmmmmm, this is not the explanation I was told. Generally it has happened
when they have had some sort of server problem. It seems to have been their
email servers which suffer most.

hi all, several months back plus net said they were going to start dropping
connections of users who weren't actually using the connection. kind of like
the old dial-up thing were if you left your connection unused for a period
of time, the connection was dropped and you had to reconnect. this is what
they are doing. if you leave your pc connected to the internet, but not
actually actively using it, plus net will disconnect you. i read the article
some while back on adslguide.org.

I have encountered the same problems myself. It appears to be happening
more over recent months. I think possibly this is because more people are
joining and they are having difficulties keeping up with demand. Also, it
is becoming more and more difficult to get hold of their tech department.
Waiting times are generally in excess of 15 to 30 minutes. Were you aware
also that plus.net are going to start charging 50 pence a minute for tech
support? This, along with the longer waiting times and more frequentqueuein service has lead me to wonder whether I should change provider.
In terms of their 4 and 8 meg lines, the 3 and 4 meg lines should be in force now for subscribers who paid a premium price to be first in theto upgrade. The rest of us have to wait though the guy I spoke to said itaccess?
would be rolling out over the next few months depending on your billing
date.
