I get messages from time to time to compact my folders in Outlook Express but I 
always have to press OK I can never escape out of this message.how can I say no?

Hi Ron,

Look in the Recycle Bin for files like Inbox.bak as they normally end up 
there if you've compressed them by mistake.
All your other mail folders will probably be there with the .bak 
extension added to them.
