Hi Clive, I've just looked up the info on the DM2 and DM4 on the olympus website. They sound excellent, particularly the DM4. It makes the Victor Stream seem positively puny. If the projected prices hold good the DM4 will be cheaper than the Victor Stream as well. It's nice that they come with sd cards, unlike the stream. The only downer I could see, if I understand rightly they come with a built in power cell. I've never liked stuff with built in power cells. I'm pleased to see that they'll have the mains option as well. I'm certainly going to buy one, and I can think of several other people who will.

Hello John, I have this model and there is voice guidance on most functions, except those like time and date, timer recording and system information. On thegood side the stereo microphones are built into the unit and the socket foran external microphone is on the top edge. Also, there is a card slot for inserting micro SD HC cards up to 16GB, perfect for long recordings or for storing books and music. One thing to be aware of: the microphones are very sensitive to wind noise and easily distort when working close to them. It is also advisable toselect manual recording level so you can quickly adjust the recording leveldepending what you are recording. The unit comes with rechargeablebatteries but I've found alkaline ones last a long time before needing to bereplaced. If you need more functionality and accessibility then why not wait for the new DM2 and DM4 recorders due out soon, the latter will have DAISY support and text-to-speech for reading text files and other accessible features. Hope this helps. Best wishes, Clive Pallett
