Hi Graham, NVDA works great on a pen drive and of course there are no video drivers to be installed. It also now has its own built in speech and one of the voices has a scottish accent which brings a smile to my face when I hear it. Cheers Tom. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Graham Page" <gpage@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, July 02, 2007 9:33 PM Subject: [access-uk] non-visual desktop, was: Re: Re: SATOGO AND INTERNET CAFE Hi Tom. I have not tried Non-visual desktop on a pen drive though have installed it on a laptop I have. I must say that so far it does seem to me the best of the free screenreading products, and at version 0.5 it is still very much a development release. The voice is a little bit odd, but if it can really be run directly from a pen drive in a similar way to system access, this is interesting. It doesn't affect me in any way as I am still able to use my pen drive with Window Eyes on it to access some of the computers, plus he also has the open source screen reader N V D A on a pen drive available for any customers who may need speech. Cheers Tom. ----- Original Message ----- From: Graham Page To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, July 02, 2007 8:00 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: SATOGO AND INTERNET CAFE Hi Tom. I would certainly agree with this. Of course, you would need to go to the web and download an executable each time you restart the PC. So, it's great for individuals to use at home or in the work environment, particularly if they need to work on a number of machines, e.g. providing technical support. If Seratec, forgive possible misspelling, market this as for use in public libraries, internet cafes and the like, they will I believe be seriously misleading people. I doubt any internet cafe owner will take the risk as it could open their entire computer network to a virus attack.
