I am a little confused. If you have a bt internet e-mail account, then your
settings must be identical to those on your computer, you cannot start changing
username and password or it will not work. However, if you think you have made
a mistake and typed something incorrectly then you can certainly edit it. Go
to messaging and arrow down to your e-mail, perhaps it is set up as Dave.
Select it and when you are asked if you want to connect to the Internet say No
by pressing soft key two. Then go to options and down to e-mail settings.
Select that. You should then have connection settings as the first one on the
list. Select that. You will then have Incoming and below that outgoing.
Select Incoming. Now explore that by arrowing up and down. You will hear all
your various settings. Now for example choosing the second one down which is
your password. Once you arrow and hear password then select that. You are now
in an edit field and you can change your password. When writing your password
all you hear is star, star etc. Now I do not like this as I do not know if I
am making a mistake so I change within Talks itself to key echo passwords. This
way I hear what character or number I put in. Once you have put in your
correct password then press soft key one to OK it. Where you think you have
other errors just go down through all of those fields and edit accordingly. I
usually check where there is a mistake by arrowing across character by
character once in the edit field to ensure it is written correctly and where it
is incorrect I can just correct that character. I have a total of 6 e-mail
accounts on my phone. I think that is the maximum number. These are all pop
accounts, some being G mail but hopefully others can help you too. Have you
given any thought to joining the Talks list for on-going suppport from other
Talks users?

  Subject: [access-uk] nokia n86 e-mail

  Hi list,

I'm in the process of learning to use a nokia 86 with talks 5.01. I set up
the e-mail using the wizard and everything worked fine. At this point I
realized how many emails I receive a day!. since deleting seems to involve
around half a dozen key presses, maintain the emails would keep me permanently
busy. I tried using pc-suit to synchronize the phone with my desk top (windows
7 64 bit and windows live mail) only to find that wlm is not supported. I then
decided to set up a new email account using the option within BT-internet to be
used for the phone alone. I tried to change the username and password using
menu/tools/settings/email. I found I could change the username but not the
password ( the option did not appear to be there). My phone is still receiving
emails using the original account! I am baffled - any ideas? How do you
relaunch the email wizard once an account has been set up?

  Dave
