There are loads of free high quality Expressive premium voices which will work
with Jaws.
The problem is that you have to download them usually from the Freedom
Scientific site.
If you Google Extra Voices for Jaws you should find a link to the free Jaws
Voices download page. These voices will only work with Jaws.
Once the voices are downloaded and installed you will have to restart Jaws to
make them available.
Then what I would recommend is that you create a Voice Profile with the new
voice. Jaws could make this all a bit easier. But basically you need to
1.
Hit Jaws plus J to bring up the Jaws menu.
2. Select Options and then Voices from the menu and then voice adjustments.
3.
Now tab to the synthetiser combo box and look for Vocaliser Expressive. Now tab
to the Person combo box and you will find all the voices you have downloaded.
What I do for convenience is load into the dialogue every voice Ihave
downloaded and then save that voice as a Profile. So if you have downloaded
Alison Premium tab to save as and call the Profile Alison premium. You will be
asked if you want to use it as drfault. Now tab around and select another voice
– Say Ava Premium and save that also as a profile.
The advantagbe of doing this is that if you want to switch quickly between
voices all you need to do is press jaws control S and then cursor up and down
the available voice profiles you have saved and select the voice you want by
pressing enter.
Hope that helps
David Griffith.

Subject: [access-uk] new jaws user and a question
Hi
I have just got jaws, how can I get a different voice for jaws, eloquence is a
bit hard to understand, I have tried tweaking the voice but I am not keen on
it. I have several voices installed on my pc, ivona, one or two others, how can
I use them with jaws?
I have also purchased a jaws s.m.a. how does this work? How many new versions
of jaws or how long does it last?
Regards
Adrien
