Thanks Larry, and George, Marie and all who helped me to get on line with my
netbook. Another problem please. I am trying to download AVG free but it is
asking me for money, is it not free any more? Or should I try another one? I
am using AVAST on another computer. It also looks as though Jaws 10 is not
suitable for netbooks, is that right?

All help gratefully received.

Cheers

Ron

Hello Ron

Ok taking in to account you have no "switch" to turn yoru Wi-Fi on and off,
there is a key which does the same.

On your netbook at the bottom left there is a key marked Fn - this is a key
that toggles what other keys do.

Now look along the F1-F12 keys and there are symbols on them which are in a
different colour, the colour will be the same colour as the Fn characters are.

One of them will have a wireless icon (beacon with rings round it.

Press the Fn key plus the key that is marked Wi-Fi and this should toggle
wireless on and off.

Thanks George I will try that. Would there be something in settings to check?

Hi Ron,

It's just possible your wireless router is set to "Hidden". or to not broadcast
it's presence.

Ask your wife to try right clicking on the crossed icon, and see what options
you get.

George.

Hello George, well as I was explaining to Marie, there is no switch as such to
switch Wi-Fi on but there is a little thing at the bottom of the screen which
you have to click. My wife tells me there is a cross on the top of it. Both
she and Narrator are telling me that there is no network available. There is
because all other devices are working through it. All leads are connected and
my IPod is picking up the network so at the moment it is a mystery.

Thanks for helping.

Cheers

Ron

Hi Ron,

Marie has pretty well answered your question. Is it turned on?

George.

Did I miss how you are trying to connect the netbook? Is it wired to the
router, or are you trying wirelessly?

George.

Hello Folks, I have two computers connected with leads and a laptop connected
with a wireless card. Using a Netgear modem and router. I am trying to
connect my new netbook to the home network but it is saying there is no network
set up. My wife tells me there is a cross over where the network icon is on
the screen. Any ideas anyone? All other computers are okay.

A new modem and router combined is being delivered from Virgin on Tuesday.

Cheers

Ron
