I haven't tried it, but there is the £5.99 Ariadne GPS.  Here's some info on
it:

There's also the RNIB Navigator that you have to pay a monthly subscription
for.  I haven't tried that either.

it's fine using google maps if you know exactly where you are going but what
about just telling you where you are as you walk round the streets?

Google maps is good, as is the built in Maps.  There's a few paid for ones,
but these two are free and very good.

I havde been looking on the apps to see about an app for navigation, but the
only one that seems to be there that will work with my iPhone is Four
Squear, it this the only one that will work with my iPhone or is there
