I saw that there was a pilot scheme in some county that the Police would not
attend for a burglarly but simply issue a Crime number so an insurance claim
could be made.

sad to say the police today are too busy protecting the elites to bother about
the rest of the people they are supposed to serve. long and short of it is if
theres nothing in it for them they wont bother theri proverbial.

It really isn't that easy these days reporting incidents to the police.
A couple of weeks ago a guy called at the door wanting to replace our
facure boards. My husband tried to turn him away but he was very
persistent and eventually persuaded him to have some other work done
on the roof - as this was a job my husband had been putting off, he
allowed himself to be persuaded. So far so good. But the next day the
guy is putting pressure on him to replace ridge tiles and claiming
there is a lot more work to be done up there. He also suddenly wants
cash rather than a cheque. My husband paid a cheque and sent him off
with a flea in his ear. He then looked the guy up via the internet and
saw he'd served 12 months for conning vulnerable elderly people and
overcharging. On reflection, my husband felt we were slightly
overcharged but that wasn't his main concern. We live in a bungalow
and so he checked out what the guy had been saying avbout our ridge
tiles - which was nonsense and he was very unhappy about the hard
sell. He tried to report them as suspi
ci
ous to the police. He went down to Dover to find the police station isn't
manned after 6 p.m. and the telephone outside was vandalised. He then drove
to Deal where again the police station wasn't manned. He tried using their
telephone outside but it just kept ringing and then cutting out. Eventually
someone did answer and called him back on his mobile, said someone would be
getting back to him and suggested he reported his concerns to Trading
Standards.
It appears, however, that we can only lodge concerns with Trading Standards
via the CAB.
It has taken almost three weeks for the police to come back to us and it
seems this is only because an older lady in Deal had been conned out of
£3,000 for some work on her roof and the repair of her driveway.
My husband found the whole procedure very frustrating.
Alison.

you would need his address if he was going to involve the police. Does he
have that?

Hi John,

Sounds like a fairly straight forward case of theft to me. Maybe try
contacting Darren and tell him that it will become a police matter if the
money isn’t refunded within a specific timescale.

Cheers,

I like your approach John but surely he will not be allowed to trade on
that list again.however, giving him the benefit of the doubt maybe he is
ill and has not been back to his computer. Let's hope so.

Hi my friend,

Mike has just reminded me of a senario I had, once, when I sold
the first Plextor some years ago. I sent it off to him and left
my card in by mistake. It was quite an expensive card at the time
and I had had no intention of leaving it, nor had I said to him that he
could have a card.

Basically he said "Finders keepers" ... Neither of us can now
remember whether I got the card back, but I remember having to
write to Graham about it.

I do hope you're successful in sorting this out and that it was a
genuine oversight on the guy's part. Of course, if he sent it off
to the wrong person then he's reliant on that person to return it
to him, or send it on to you ...

So sorry, Graham, to learn about this.

Carol P

hi all
this is my last message on my problem buying an iphone.

maybe the seller has made a mistake and if he has then fine if
not i just hope that he will think carefully to what he has done.

last friday i contcated darren cook who was selling an iphone 5 for £100.
i have had a nice chat with him and paid him £100 in to his bank
for the phone. to cut a long storry short this phone has not turn
up and the reason why not is that it has been sold to a chap in
huddersfield.

darren says he works for ee but, this phone apparently even with
a new sim in it of course is tied to darrrens itunes id that's
his username email address and password. anyone knows that the
phone should be paid for to be unlocked. so, this phone has been
sold to two people myself and the nice guy in huddersfield. now
all i need is for darran to consider what he has done and pay me
back my £100. as i said maybe he has made a mistake but again if
not the mods who have never got back to me from the recycle list
should not allow any more sales by this person on that list.
really sorry to clog the lists up with this but it's damn well very
important thank you for reading.
