Ian - Winamp is my default player, but under file types, .ASX doesn't seem
to be listed, but surely if it was there, I'd need to have it checked to
play these files rather than trying to get WMP to play them?

If you use Winamp, make sure this file type is not selected and allow Windows Media Player to pick it up.
