George, thanks for this, but i got the removel tool, and removed the whole lot, not getting that error message no more, its great,

Look for the "Search" box on the Symantec's main web page.
Type "Removal Tool" (Without the quotes) and press Enter.

Now take your pick of what you specifically require for your
system.

Eventually I think your laptop will love you for

uninstalling Norton

A/V.  However I think in the mean time what ou may need is

the Norton

Uninstallation utility.
