I am going to try connecting my Braille Edge via Bluetooth with the Iphone,
which I think will make life easier, and then try Steve's ideas for the
dictionry I want to create on my Braille Edge.

Well, I've thought of a solution, but I don't know how to go about it.
Perhaps someone else on the list can explain. My idea is to set up a
shortcut to change the Siri language calling it something like 'Speak
German, and another called 'Speack English'. Then you might use Siri to
change language on the fly. One thing I do know, though, is that hey siri
stops working when you change language. If you rely on that, you'd have to
turn it on again and retrain.
The only other thing I can suggest is to find the course to use a computer
with Jaws and have detect language turned on.

For some time I have dabbled with learning German but have recently
discovered the Duo Lingo App on my iPhone which has re-ignited my
enthusiasm, but I have a problem and am looking for some suggestions.
The app does have some self-voicing capability but as you swipe through, it
is Daniel who gives his version of German words, so it is a bit like
learning two languages, the proper German and his version of the word.
So, I thought, I'd use my Braille Edge Notetaker to keep a dictionary where
I could write the new words down and see the words in braille rather than
jut hearing them, as would be the case if |I used Jaws.
The trouble is that my BrailleEdge , which I also use for my creative
writing classes, is set to display grade two and every time I write the
letters AR, for example, it turns them into an ar sign.
I could of course change the settings on my Braille Edge to grade 1, but
then that would be a real pain for my writing classes.
Any ideas?
