Hi Steve.

Very true, however value is subjective, I'd rather supply a customer with a good specification on the hardware side of things, rather than compromise and save a few pounds by buying a machine which is of an inferior specification but which comes with Windows 7. Taking the HP laptop I mentioned earlier, marked down from £549 which arguably is a fare price given its specification, you'd still be getting more value for money by buying Windows 7 as an OEM license on top of the £399 price tag asked for the machine, plus you'd have the added benefit of a Windows 8 license ready for when you did decide to upgrade, providing you kept the recovery partition in tact.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Ibrahim,

But bear in mind you'd also have to pay for Windows 7 to downgrade it.
This, based on a 70 quid estimate, would take the price of the laptop up to
469. So then it becomes less good value.

All the best

steve

Hi Adrian.

You can get an HP Pavilion laptop for £399 from PC world at the moment, with

a Core I5 processor, 1.6GHZ clock speed, 8GB of memory and a 1TB hard drive.

This is what I meant about value for money, Windows 7 could be put on this
machine and you'd have a much better specification for your money.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi

Ok I don't wish to go through all that agro, the one I am
getting comes with windows 7 installed and windows 8 on a cd
so if I want to install it at a later date I can, getting
the best of both worlds. If I get one with windows 8
installed I'd only have to buy windows 7 as surely it is not
free so probably saving myself some money in the long run.
The pc I am getting doesn't have anything else installed on
it, I have checked, just windows 7, I may have a few extras
but who cares, they can be easily removed or up-dated if you
need to do that. I prefer windows 7, don't really want to
learn a new operating system just now, in spite of it being
windows 8, better the devil you know. So many people have
got windows 8 and had to go back to 7 so why go through all
the hassle? Just my point of view.

Regards

Adrien

Hi.

Look, this sounds dum perhaps, but why not pick up a Windows
8 machine, wipe
it clean of its preinstalled OS and just put Windows 7 on
it. Not only will
you get a clean installation of Windows without the fluff
that usually
accompanies laptops, most of the laptop manufacturers offer
Windows 7
downloads of the drivers and support software your computer
needs. There
are some excellent deals on at the moment from the likes of
PC World, Amazon
and ebuyer so it might be worth putting the time and effort
in to doing this
yourself, copies of Windows 7 can be had for around £70 or
less if you know
where to look.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Hi Adrien

I've found a Toshiba Win 7 system 2.4 GHZ Processor, 6GB RAM
and 500GB
HDD for around £354. The only problem is that delivery
takes between
4 to 8 weeks.

Cheers

Shane

Hi

I have been searching around for a laptop, I know the

I am searching for, I have stuck to a budget of £400, very
difficult to find one unless you want windows 8. I prefer
windows 7, Intel, 2 GHz processor or higher, 4 or higher
gb
ram, believe me, they are very difficult to find. I have
found one and will be ordering on Monday, it is a Lenovo
essential b590, there are other windows 7 laptops around
but
are much higher than £400. If anyone is looking for a
laptop, I will let you have the specs.
