Hi Andy

You definitely get surface detection once you get used to the larger tip. I've
had people ask why the end is like a ball, but I've had no major mishaps with
it. The Ambutech cane is very tough and not easily bent. The cane I had
before that would get bent like a banana when someone stood on it. The
Ambutech also has a nice rubber portion on the top, and I've learnt over the
years to just hold it very loosely in my hand rather than grip it as I move.

This might sound a stupid thing to say, but I love my cane. It's a part of me
and who I am, and I just don't have any hang-ups about using it.

Jackie - does the jumbo detect difference in surface texture as well as the
standard roller does; I'm all in favour of a smoother operation to protect the
wrist, but also appreciate the feedback I get from the roller tip, which can
tell me where I am by surface difference.

I've had roller tips snapped off by people standing on the end of my cane
before now, I don't suppose the jumbo is a tougher construct?
