Sorry, Husna, you said you'd downloaded your driver, didn't you? So I'm sure Windows will find it if it's on your hard disk. I'm sure if it's in your root directory or Windows\temp or wherever, it's the same process as putting in a CD, which you might not have to do - but you might, so follow the Wizard!

Hi Husna,

I don't suppose I can improve on the answer you've already had, but here goes.......

You don't put the driver anywhere, Windows does it automatically.

Every USB device I've come across works like this.

Step 1. Shut down any program you possibly can. Turn off your internet connection if you can, and if you can do that, exit from your virus scanner, printer and anythnig else you may have in the system tray. This is to make things simpler for Windows.

Step 2. I'm assuming that you're in the Desktop. Put the scanner's U S B plug into a free U S B port.

Step 3. Windows will usually pop up one of those bubbles that says "Found new hardware" or similar.

Step 4. Windows launches the New Hardware Wizard. Follow the instructions . At some stage it will probably ask you for the C D if it's not in already, and will offer to install the driver automatically - and as it says this option is recommended.

If the scanner has its own software CD, you may need to put that in instead of the Windows CD, otherwise put in the windows CD.

With any luck, Windows will now finish the job, you can reboot to get all your programs back, and off you go!

Try that and if you have any problems come back. Good luck!

Vince.
