What CD are you using to boot from, Terry. Could the media possible be faulty? When the pc is turned on, the cd spins for a few seconds, then stops. I've tried booting from a floppy, then typed setup but just says, bad command or file name. Is there something I need to do to the hard drive before xp can start to be loaded on to it? I'm really annoyed with the whole thing, as I only bought it a few weeks ago, off another list. ----- Original Message ----- From: "George Bell" <george@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, April 13, 2008 12:44 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: laptop still dead from weeks ago > Hi Terry, > > What is the exact make and model of the laptop? > > Do you have a "Recovery CD" or CDs for it? > > (That said, I've recently had a similar problem with my > Toshiba which it appears is due to failed memory.
