Hi Richard

I use JAWS primarily, not because I like the ethos of the company FS, but
because old habits sometimes die hard! (smile). But I also use Window-Eyes,
and am getting to like it. What puts me off using Window-Eyes all the time
is the lag with Braille. I have an Alva, and I find there is an annoying
lag when running WE.

Yes, JAWS 16 is sluggish, I can't put my finger on what it is though.
Others have said likewise so I know it isn't just me being pedantic. If we
are going to pay for an SMA, it would be nice to see what we are getting for
our money. Frankly there is sod all in 16 that I can find of note.

Ho-hum!

Kind regards,

Jackie Brown

Jackie, I do find that JFW 16 behaves very oddly sometimes. There also
seems to be a sluggishneness which is very infuriating. NVDA isn't perfect,
but I'm liking it more and more.

What's your reader of choice these days?

Hi Ali

I cannot replicate any of your issues with JAWS 13 on a Windows 7 machine,
but I can report anomalies with JAWS 16 on some websites. If I am on
Amazon, for instance, JAWS will suddenly tell me the page is blank, and my
only way out is to close Amazon and go back in again. This does not occur
using Window-Eyes 9. I don't have a previous version of JAWS on my machine
that I can revert to since my computer went for a makeover recently, and I
haven't installed previous versions of JAWS.

I don't particularly like 16, it doesn't seem to behave properly on the
Internet. Anyone else noticed this? My husband and a couple of friends
using similar configurations can replicate the problem. I haven't reported
it though as it seems to fall on deaf ears, so why bother?

Kind regards,

Jackie Brown

Good morning all,

I have not done anything out of the ordinary, e.g. formatted my hard drive,
re-installed windows, applied all updates, etc etc. However, jaws is now
behaving quite oddly. For example, when I try to rout jaws to pc,
(insert+keypad minus) I sometime hear jaws to pc, sometime no sound,
sometime speech gets interrupted. Furthermore, when jaws is routed to pc,
speech gets interrupted and I only hear the first part of the word etc. It
is also quite difficult to move in the windows with insert+4 and 6. Even
control+right/left arrows get stuck and cannot left or right click on any of
the buttons.

Using jaws13 on windows7.

.

Thank you.
