Hello Alison.

In your latest catalog, nowhere is the £75 price mentioned as far as I can see. My question then, is what page is it mentioned on? I would hate this to be a random figure just applied to new customers. Please bare in mind that I would just like access to the E-Text service, i do not require titles in audio. If you could please clarify, I would really appreciate it. I have just sent you a trial request to the newsagent address so hopefully you'll receive it.

Kind Regards,

Mo.

Hi,
The etext service is £75 per year for new customers. This gives you access to
all the newspapers and magazines available through this service. We also
provide single subscriptions to titles via email.

We provide a free months trial to the service. Just send your name, address
and email address to newsagent@xxxxxxxxxxx and we can set this up.

Thanks
Alison

Hi Adrien

Contact RNIB as they run it nowadays. It is worth the money when you
consider how much each item costs in a local newsagent!

hi.

many thanks to everyone who have replied to the thread. I really appreciate
the feedback. does anyone have any idea why the person on the phone quoted
me £75? i can't seem to find that price anywhere for newspapers or
magazines. very odd. does anyone know what I need to ask for when ringing
them so I don't get conned in to paying more than i need to? apparently
saying you want to subscribe to newsagent isn't enough...

all the best,

Mo.

Hello Janet.

Many thanks for your response. What i'm after is the
service that
provides publications in HTML format ideally for an anual
not a monthly
fee. i'm not really sure what to ask them for. from what
you're saying,
are only certain publications available via HTML download?
sorry for all
the questions.

all the best,

Mo.

Hi Mo

if you opt for what they call the mp3 service according
to what I've
been told you can either download the audio versions of
the magazines
or go to the text and mobile versions. If you would like
a list of
what is on each service you can email me privately and I
will send
you this. My email address is

Hi.

That's excellent news, though its a shame about some mags
being 6 weeks
behind. does anyone know the pricing per year for the
download service?
and just to clarify, do you have to pay for the downloads
and email
services separately? the catalog also didn't mention
which mags were
available for download, they only seem to specify email,
audio or print.
so are all titles in the catalog available for download
in that case? I
would have asked the helpline advisers, but the last
person who i tried
to ask didn't go in to much detail he just said i'll send
you a catalog
leaving me none the wiser quoting me £75 per year, but
having seen these
prices i'm wondering what i'd be paying £75 for?

all the best,

Mo.

I also subscribe to the magazines and yes I believe you
get exactly
what the print says in magazines like wich. |I only use
the text
version of the magazines and newspapers so that I can
read them when
I wish.

Subject: [access-uk] is RNIB newsagent worth it?

Hello Everyone.

I'm looking for people who are subscribed to RNIB
newsagent. I received
a catalogue from them today, but the pricing structure
isn't very
clear.
I am looking to receive magazines via email or download.
which would be
the cheaper option? the implication is that magazines
can be downloaded
if you subscribe to the service as a hole, but email
prices per issue
seem to be around the £25 mark per issue anually. is it
cheaper if you
subscribe to the download service to gain access to all
the
magazines at
once?

the other question I have is regarding how much of the
publication is
edited by the RNIB. do we get access to all articles in
which magazine
for example? or just some of the articles? any advice
would be very
much
appreciated.

all the best,

Mo.
