But we need an account to  turn the TV  on.
It's called  TV license!

For god sake, we should not have to have an account to watch something.
If you turn your TV on, it does not ask you to sign in to watch BBC ONE or
any channel!

Hello Andrew and all,

Accusations of Big Aunty turning herself into Big Brother abound!
Please, this is my understanding which could easily be a misunderstanding.

Once you create an account then the BBC can monitor your preferences.
A pattern will soon establish itself, enabling them to prompt you with
similar programmes for your consideration.
If you remain anonymous, they cannot offer suggestions of similar material
which you might find equally enjoyable.

No organisation will go out of their way to create this option.
It has been driven by consumers complaining that they missed something of
which they were not aware.
Squeaky wheels, oil, and all that...

So now everyone wishing to access the service must have an account and will
receive prompts, whether desired or not.

Paul Benson.

Hi,
Please can someone tell me why we need to sign in to the BBC iplayer!
It is now forcing us all to do it.
