Second email reads: The very first thing you should do is a backup of your phone with PC Sweit. The next thing is to write down your IMEI number and your TALKs license number for safe keeping. Beings you are going to use a new MMC card. You should do a TALKs OFF before you turn the phone off and replace the MMC card. This will provent any error message when you put the new card in and turn on the phone. You should install the ScanSoft software first. Version 6.1.45 current beta. After that is done, you can then install the TALKs software. Current Version 1.40.1 beta. Yes a blind person can do it. You just need to know how many time to press the Softkey 1 for each of the software packages. No you shouldn't have to retype your license number. However you should write it down before you start this process encase the worce happends. The ScanSoft software need to have the Softkey one pressed 3 times with about a 5 second delay between presses. Then press the down arrow to install to memory card and then press softkey one again. That should get the ScanSoft software installed. Now for the TALKs software. Follow the same steps as above for the key presses. After pressing the softkey one to tell it the memory to use, you need to press the Softkey one 2 more times after that. Follow the same time as listed above. The key press after the memory is for the license, the next one is to install other files. After everything is done, the phone should start talking. will take about 30 seconds. So When installing the TALKs software, Press the SoftKey one 3 time followed by a down arrow, followed by 3 more presses of the SoftKey one with a 5 second delay between presses. I should be getting a new 512 MB MMC card and a Linksys Bluetooth adapter today. I have downloaded the appropriate PC Suite for the 6620 and the latest Talks archive. I have also read through the installation instructions. As recommended in the installation instructions, I would like to install the Talks and TTS files onto my new MMC card. I assume that I would want to be sure the Bluetooth and PC Suite connection is working well first. From this point on, things get a little fuzzy. I know I will want to take out the Talks MMC card from Cingular at some point and replace it with my new MMC card. I will also use the TalksOff command in the menu so that Talks and the TTS engine can be replaced. The sequence in which these steps should be done is not quite clear. A list of subsequent steps in the installation process would also be helpful. Once the upgrade is installed, is it necessary to put in the serial number, or is it retained in the phone? Some have said that sighted assistance is needed, but others have said it is not. I will be doing this installation at work, and so I can probably have assistance available if I need it. I will appreciate any help to make this upgrade installation as smooth as possible. I am trying to install a talks update on a Nokia 6630. version 2.003 is currently there while I think version 2.011 is the latest. In the past, using a Nokia 6600, I was able to install Talks from the PC where as now I have to use the phone to do part of it as the application seems to be transfered to the phone and run from there. I get as far as being asked if I want to replace TALKS but after that I am asked if I want to close all applications. If I say yes I get no speech. If I say no the installation appears to abort. I am currently using bluetooth but could use the usb cable if this makes installation easier. Can someone tell me if there is a better way of installing Talks so I get speech or, if not, what is the order of questions that get asked?
