[access-uk] Re: installing talks 3g On N91

It's late now, and I'm tearing my hair out as I'm getting nowhere with the
N91 and PCSuite. I uninstalled PCSuite, and the BKE-2 driver from this
machine, and reinstalled them without success, so uninstalled and
reinstalled again, but without the BKE-2 driver this time, as PCSuite
[version 65_gsm] seems to have connectivity drivers built-in. Anyway, after
doing this, I was prompted to connect my phone, and the 'found new hardware'
page came up, and so I followed the prompts, and when finished, it said I
now had the N91 available [or some such language] for PCSuite, but when I
went in to PCSuite, it said "no phone connected!" It doesn't seem to matter
if I follow either of Steve Nutt's instruction regarding the phone itself,
because I still get the USB connection sound if I arrow down once and press
the joy stick, or don't arrow at all, and pres the joy stick. Also, when I
connect the phone, it still isn't showing up in my computer as a drive, all
I have there is Nokia Phone Browser, which has 4 folders, my contacts, my
messages, my gallery, and my retrieved files [or something like that, it's
late!]

I'm stuck without you guys to get me out of this one, my
knowledge is too limited.

What I also tried that failed was to allow the new hardware wizard to look
for software on CD, and try and install PCSuite from there, as in a clean
installation, but the wizard couldn't see any software on CD, even though
the disc was in the drive!

Regards -
Andy

Hi Andy,

You may have the old firmware then. Plug in, and just press select on the
joystick, and you should get a connection. Leave out the down arrow bit.

Hi Steve - Brilliant, at least that worked, and I got the all familiar USB
device connected sound! Unfortunately, the N91 didn't then show up as a
drive in 'My Computer', so I opened PCSuite, and clicked on Manage
connections, and chose USB cable from the 'make new connection tab' and
clicked ok. Sadly though, it came back and said "no phone connected, click
get connected to connect a phone", so I clicked on 'Get connected', and it
told me to check if my phone was connected by cable, and turned on. So,
again, I'm stuck! Seems to be taking me ages to find out what I need to do,
and with just 4 of us using this phone on these lists, help is limited, so
thanks for any you can offer, when I can get it talking, I'll be able to
upgrade my licence!
Looking forward to doing that-

Andy

Hi Andy,

Plug in the phone end, then down arrow once on the phone, and press select
on the joystick. It is asking if you want Media, PC Suite, or Mass Storage.
Arrow down once to PC Suite and press the joystick. The computer will then
pick it up. Again, on earlier firmware, PC Suite was the first option, but
now it is on the second. Who volunteers to write this up? As soon as you
do, I guarantee you it will change.

Hi Steve and all -

I've connected my N91 via USB to my PC, but the computer isn't recognising
the connection; other USB devices are working ok; anybody know why the N91
isn't being seen?- Andy

Hi Andy,

The tools menu should be on your N91's menu, but you see what I mean = about
different operators varying the way they set up the phones?

Barry - I got help getting the time and date set, so that's ok now; what = I

I'm = on my own again now!

Andy.

The time and date as previous people have said is crucial that it's set.

i've my phone talking now and if you need it I'll do my best to give you
keystrokes of setting the time and date without eyes.

No promises it will work, I'll work off my handset in grid mode for the =
menu which should be the default.

I believe the phone memory is the first option but I've no idea at what
portion of the install process it asks for location.

I am incensed that documentation isn't available for this.

Untill we have a talking install keystrokes need to be made available.

Andy.

If you feel down the rigt hand side of the phone.
There's a little line in-lay. Push that in whilst pulling the bottom to
bottom middle of the back down and it shoudl slide.

I'd do this whilst the phones on it's side, with your left hand working =
the button in and your right hand pulling the back to slide off.

Let me know if you need more descriptive instructions.

I'll be about later on today and will do my best to try and write a how = to
to get talks on the phone.

I haven't gotten my talks installed yet so...

hi all.

I've got a n91.

Bought brand new and unlocked.

Is there any documentation for installing talks?

i've it connected to the pc suite no problems.

I've the talks files no problem.

Can some kind person do a step by step for me?

Here's mine that I did.

1. Turned phone on,

2. Set location, and time/date in the form
0706
date: 201206

3. Connected usb cable.

4. down arrowed once on phone and hit select to connect it to the pc.

5. Hit enter on the elaquince file in explorer and said yes to install.

6. Kept hitting key one during install untill i heard the high pitch = beep
to say it had completed.

7. hit enter on the talks file and did the same I did on the elaquince
file.

Except the talks file does a low tone bleep at me several times.

I do not get anything talkign to me.

is there a launch talks keystroke?

Can somebody provide me with where the talks key is on the n91?

Any documentation woudl be greately appreciated.

Cheers
Dj paddy
