2. What's DLA for? OK, it isn't that much I know, but surely it goes some way toward compensating for the higher price of visual impairment. This is just such a case.

I'm not sure whether to agree with that or not Ray, lol. I seem to be in a dilema <grin>. HOwever, being that the DLA is put, the amount set at the level of both Care and mobility, would such things like the price of audio books be assumed as a mobility issue? I care is not, I'm sure.

hmmm.... I get the feeling I'm being a bit naive here but, it's an interesting point to make. That being, what is the intention the state has when awarding us DLA. What do they expect us to use it for exactly? All good questions and I'm sure I'm swimming in muddy waters here, lol.

I'm against any business being called >on to be 'charitable'. Businesss is >business, thilanthropy. Ust as well when >you look at 'our' (laugh) RNIB.

although don't feel strongly against myself, what I do feel is that business taking the charitable approach is sadly unworkable for the business itself. We all do have to remember that these businesses are run by people who's livelyhood it is and, businessese of access technology are not huge coorperations so, they can't afford to offer cheaper, or give away prices. If only, lol.

70% of blind men are unemployed tho. 90% of blind women ... according to the
last stats I saw. Hence books should be available at a reasonable price.

Anyhoo

Not necessarily. A blind person must be especially creative when looking
for employment as many jobs are closed to him for one reason or other.
