It's been a couple of years since I did this, but I don't think there's any
way around it. Unless you can see enough to put the cursor in the right
place with the mouse you have to get a sighted person to do it.

I have passed my Ipod shuffle on to a VIP friend of mine, but, they are
having problems setting it up due to Jaws not reading all of the details.
It asks for the serial number, which I have made a note of, but jaws won't
allow input of this number. It just "clunks."
Can anyone offer any advice?
Or, is it just another example of inaccessibility?
Hope you can help!
