I've been looking at some iRiver forums where posters have been speculating
that the next version of the iRiver firmware will enable you to listen to
Audible content on the player.

I'm persisting with the iPod Shuffle because it came free when I signed up
to Audible and when it works properly, provides a great way of carrying
hours of books around easily. In theory, its easy to upload and delete
content from it, and it's a neat unit.

The iRiver is number one though, because you can store so much on it. When
you're able to listen to Audible books on it it will be even better. Even
when that happens though I suspect that you'll be unable to take advantage
of what I'm sure is an iTunes feature, the ability for the player to
remember where you're up to so you can listen to a bit, listen to a few
albums or whatever and then skip back to the place you were up to in the
Audible book without having to find it again from the beginning of the file.

hi Sunil

I Bought an IRiver and then thought I would try audible. It never occurred
to me that the books would not play on it as I wrongly assumed they were in
MP3
format. Fortunately, I did not sign up for a plan so have decided to do
without audible books for the present. I was also disappointed that I could
not copy
books onto CDs in MP3 format to get lots of information on one disk.

I have two books from their free trial, but will not be getting any more at
the moment.

I am unwilling to get involved with Itunes, as I can do most things with
other software and have more control.
